One person was killed in the 4:30 a.m. crash near mile marker 80, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said.

The inner southbound lanes were closed for several hours between Exit 9 and Exit 11 as New Jersey State Police investigated. All traffic was diverted to the outer roadway, troopers said.

Two motorists were ejected, according to Initial reports. The victim's name had not been released by state police.

A Medevac helicopter was requested to airlift at least one victim, reports said.

This is a developing story.
